Winterthur

Wallpaper!

Living room with elaborate wallpaper stuffed with loads of furniture.  DuPont rotated textiles in his house seasonally, yes four times per year.  Due to budgetary constraints, the textiles are only rotated twice per year now.  What is the world coming to?

Real live flowers.  Our group had a million questions about the pros and cons of having live plants and therefore water within a museum.  I personally loved it...

Just the average staircase...

Glass door knob.  I want these.

This is notable for several reasons.  1) They let us get this close to quilts and take pictures of them.  WOW.  2) The colors are amazing.  3) I love glazed fabric.  Why doesn't Joann's carry this?

Bed hangings from Connecticut.  They likes sea themes...seaweed border.

View of the house.  Not too shabby.
A few weeks ago I went to a conference back east and had the opportunity to visit Winterthur, the former home of Henry DuPont, turned absolutely fantastic museum focused on American decorative arts.  If ever you have the chance to visit, do it!
